Some of today's movie news of note from around New York:
--Sure, the closing credits make up a quarter of its 4:29 running time, but it's what precedes them (e.g. "Ernie, you get this fucking Muppet asshole out of my store!") that makes a must-see of this Do the Right Thing remake -- starring Fisher-Price Sesame Street figures.

--Call it ConneryGate: Sean Connery's publicist denied to Page Six that the star missed last week's Dressed to Kilt event because of illness. The next night, Connery himself told New York Magazine -- gasp! -- he was in the hospital. He's OK now, though said publicist is evidently being treated today for an aneurysm, stroke or both.
--Scarlett Johansson just got that much hotter: She can do the running man! And sing along with Salt-N-Pepa!
--In the new issue of The Brooklyn Rail, David N. Meyer offers an occasionally wobbly but ultimately rewarding glimpse at The Long Goodbye, Robert Altman's Raymond Chandler adaptation set for a revival at Film Forum later this month. I mean, really: How can you be against an essay that so carefully observes "the only listenable or appropriate original music ever composed by John Williams"? (Via GreenCine Daily)
