Some of today's movie news of note from around New York:
--Vulture this week wound up at a Tribeca discussion where Becoming Jane star Anne Hathaway alluded to lesbians at Vassar and Jane Austen's oeuvre was linked to Sex and the City. A laff riot ensues. I guess you had to be there.
--You read about 28 percent of them here first: From NYC to Sundance alums Craig Zobel, Fellipe Gamarano Barbosa, Hope Dickson Leach, Tze Chun and others are among Filmmaker Magazine's 25 New Faces of Independent Film. Kudos to them and fellow NYC selectees Moon Molson, Sean Kirby and Azazel Jacobs; we've got our eyes on you. No pressure!
--Also at Filmmaker: Reeler-killer Jamie Stuart test drives Final Cut Studio 2 for his new short 12.5 Seconds Later..., an unlikely story of love, nerves and meteoric furniture.
--Noah Baumbach, to whom Variety today attributes "an affinity for writing about the East Coast elite," is booked to adapt the New York privileged-class tome The Emperor's Children for -- wait for it -- Ron Howard. Gosh, I had no idea that Park Slope divorcés who can't find parking are now considered "elite." What the hell have I been doing in Manhattan all this time?
--Rock throwers, zombie cults and gunshots: Such is the life of a New York projectionist. Or at least these projectionists.
