As per tradition, some of today's more positively spun movie news of note from around New York:
--While Alan Arkin was parlaying his Oscar triumph into curating glorified mixtapes for folkies, Best Supporting Actress Jennifer Hudson rode her momentum wave all the way to the United Nations. Because Lord knows America needs a cleavage envoy rocking her "childlike quality" from diplomatic ground zero. Now that is power.
--Bruce Bennett has an update from the 11th annual Harlem Stage on Screen series, which runs through the weekend and which organizers take great pains to explain is a community event and not a festival, competition or mess of trend-spotting. You mean... no Airborne Lounge?!? OK, I'm in.
--Obligatory 300 news of the day: Post nut Kyle Smith tags the film Onan the Barbarian. Not positive, I know, but pretty fucking funny.
--Five words: Network -- with Lumet in person.
