In keeping with tradition, some of today's more positively spun news of note from around New York:
--Between the ongoing succession of great performances in films of wildly divergent quality (admit it: he made Running With Scissors watchable) and his brilliant work on 30 Rock, he finds time to read the paper and pledge to cover an Iraq vet's college tuition upon her return to the States. Not much more to add to the story, really; the guy's on a roll.
--Speaking of generous stars: George Clooney is offering "a million bucks" to the person who can prove he leaked the David Russell/Lily Tomlin hate-in that exploded all over YouTube last week. Methinks he doth protest too much, but a million is a million. I had plans this weekend and everything.
--Newsflash: The doc is in at upcoming festivals and a crapload of blogs.
--Editors at the Financial Times interviewed bicoastal mogul Barry Diller about user-generated content. He's not too over-the-moon about it, but that's not what matters. What matters is Nikki Finke's ongoing photo/headline holocaust accompanying her take on such non-stories (above). This is the future; Google should buy her.
