Valentine's Day 2007: Another year, and yes, another romantic comedy -- Music and Lyrics -- featuring Drew Barrymore and an interchangeable male lead alongside whom she can fuss, grin and charismatically goose-step on the line separating vulnerable child stardom from sophisticated womanhood. Nobody does it like Drew, and thank God, because one more lede like this one in the Daily News and I'll be preparing for locusts:
Drew Barrymore has just finished an interview and steps into an elevator with some friends. She burps and excuses herself, laughing and explaining that it was a pickle she ate. A friend covers her nose. It really wasn't that bad.
Someone must have been offended, judging by the shrapnel embedded in Barrymore's chest at Monday's Music and Lyrics premiere in Midtown (above). A critic, perhaps? A jealous ex? Unlike the cutie pie's gastric processes, some things are destined to forever remain a mystery.
