You may notice today a bit of a change at The Reeler, where we've hammered out a few mild tweaks to better serve our readers. For obvious starters, we've renamed this blog Screening Gotham, a title repurposed from my sporadic news round-ups and old weekend event previews. Practically speaking, it looks and sounds a little nicer than "The Blog"; moreover, it's a more accurate representation of what we're trying to do with the blog, which is to gather voices and survey NYC cinema as it swims through American culture, its massive fin slicing the choppy surface.
To that end, we've folded our premiere, event and festival coverage into this blog as well. Those sections' respective blogs continue here and here, but as these items function first as elements of the news and second as individual phenomena, it made editorial sense to pool them together with our more regular dispatches. I hope you agree.
And now, back to the movies. -- S.T. VanAirsdale
