Less than 24 hours removed from the existential rupture of the Gotham Awards nominations, one of that august event's nominees is now booked for a special Lincoln Center preview: The Film Society just announced that Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Bob Balaban and Parker Posey will drop by Nov. 7 for a screening of For Your Consideration at the Walter Reade Theater.
I would say to rush out and get your tickets, but in keeping with this year's magnanimous "indie spirit," you're looking at a $90-per-head night on the town. And that doesn't include a Spinal Tap reunion or a Posey hand job or even a glass of wine as far as I can tell, so I really don't know what to recommend. I mean, of course it'll be funny. But $90 funny (or $75 for Film Society members, who don't laugh at anything anyway)? Ten days from Consideration's NYC opening? Whatever. It's not my job to discourage, but just to wince so loud your monitor flickers.
